No abrasives needed.  Not recommended for any jewelry with stones AND cautions against using it on antique silver. Place aluminum foil in heat resistant glass or ceramic. Place pieces on foil but not touching each other.  Add two heaping tablespoons of baking soda to the very hot water until it begins to bubble. Allow the silver items to soak in the baking powder mixture for about 30 minutes.  Remove the silver pieces from the water. Rinse well, making sure that all of the baking soda is removed from the crevices of the silver items. With a soft clean lint free cloth, rub dry and remove easily removed tarnish.  Re-apply with new materials for resistant still tarnished sterling.
